Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins and Mott LLP (PBFCM) has an immediate opening for a Lead Legal Assistant in our Houston office.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervise and lead operation of post-judgment department, including preparing cases for property tax foreclosure sales, overseeing writs of execution, amongst other supervisory duties
  • Review, edit and direct work product of post-judgment legal assistants
  • Consistently run and complete reports to maintain a continuous and steady workflow for post-judgment department
  • Ensure daily and weekly deadlines are met by post-judgment team members
  • Receive and process all monies for post-judgment matters (i.e. tax sales, writs of execution)
  • Provide litigation support to attorneys as needed in the collaborative efforts to move cases forward
  • Prepare and e-file post-judgment litigation documents with various courts
  • Prepare various outgoing letters
  • Maintain documents within document storage software
  • Receive and make phone calls daily from and to clients, constables, court personnel, taxpayers, and others
  • Correspond daily via email with clients, constables, court personnel, taxpayers, and others
  • Maintain and update databases including e-cabinet system and firm's custom case management system
  • Follow up regularly on pending and existing cases
  • Track correspondence sent, received or requiring further action in case management system
  • Additional clerical or administrative duties, as needed or assigned

Experience Requirement:

  • At least one (1) year experience in litigation law firm
  • Experience working in a collection law firm (Preferred)
  • Three (3) years of professional work experience (Preferred)
  • Previous experience or working knowledge of Texas E-Filing procedures, Skip-tracing techniques and/or utilization of E-Cabinet systems (Preferred)

Education Requirement:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certifications and/or College Degree (Preferred)

Work Environment:

This position involves:

  • Sitting at a computer most of the day
  • On the job training
  • Performance assessment within the first 60 days of employment

  • Reporting to department supervisor and litigation manager

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, speak and hear.  The employee is required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee may be required, on occasion, to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Employee may be required to travel by air or car.
