The Business Marketing and Development Manager will be will be responsible for identifying and developing new client opportunities for the Firm, outside the State of Texas, as well as creating complex solutions for regional clients in need delinquent Tax collections matters and Fine and Fee collections.
The ideal candidate will be and will become well connected locally, regionally and interstate building a substantial network of clients. Experience in territorial local and county government markets across state boundaries. Understanding of the economic model of clients operating in various States is crucial for success. This individual should understand the business drivers that support and represent many types of governmental entities school districts cities counties hospital districts appraisal districts special districts and toll road authorities.
He or she should have keen business development, marketing, corporate development and M&A skills, with a knack for identifying opportunities where clients might have need for tax collections in the future. A certain local street sense with an "ear to the ground" to identify opportunities and solutions combined with strong analytical and business skills is essential. Analytical skills including valuations and financial due diligence and legal savvy, as well as strategic transactional skills such as experience in the origination, negotiation and closing of complex deals, evaluation of economic and strategic drivers, knowledge of public government and school district tax issues and creating business cases are all helpful skills contributing to the success of this position.
The ability to develop relationships is a key component to the success of this position. He or she should be naturally active in the community; heavily involved in organizations, boards and committees, and able to leverage senior contacts in those various entities. This position requires a person with a capacity for market intelligence who knows how to listen and learn what's happening look for opportunities, be opportunistic and creative, be politically savvy and enjoy the art of putting together business opportunities with potential clients and drive financial and analytical skills to bring an new client opportunities to close.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
Drives the development, implementation and realization of the Firm's growth strategy outside the State of Texas.
Gathers, monitors, analyzes and shares relevant market intelligence essential for the growth of the Firm
Works closely with the Out of State committee and Executive Committee to identify, define and deliver BD projects.
Develops and maintains external networks in order to identify opportunities and validate business cases on the Firms business projects.
Develops and maintains an internal network of relationships to benchmark best practices across the Firm.
Actively identifies growth opportunities and takes a portfolio approach in managing projects from identification to definition phases according to the Firm's client development process.
Initiates, develops and delivers BD&M projects including thorough due diligence, cross functional project management, definition and delivery of investment proposals, project plans and budgets.
Manages and/or participates in mergers and acquisitions to achieve agreed project opportunity objectives
Builds and maintains good relationships with authorities, communities, regulators, potential clients ensuring their support in the interest of a successful project realization.
Defines and maintains BD&M best practices, processes and templates, aligned with the out of state and Executive Committee objectives.
Facilitates the successful execution of BD&M projects.
Performs other duties assigned by management that fall within the generally expected scope of this position
Minimum 5-10 years' experience in marketing and business development
Current familiarity with market conditions, including client and competitor information in the tax delinquency
Good understanding of financial concepts such as budgeting, return on investment, discounted cash-flow analysis and P&L management.
Project management experience and skills.
Analytical skills and the ability to analyze and summarize conflicting data.
Proven negotiation skills and track record of successful transactions
Good working knowledge of legal aspects associated with transactions and projects.
Ability to generate clear and concise reports and presentations
Client service focus including the ability to communicate diplomatically and problem solver.
Ability to successfully handle social as well as business interactions with various people including clients and Firm employees.
Willing to travel 75% of the time

This position will also report to our Out of State Marketing Committee; however, it is not necessary that the successful candidate reside in Texas.
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or public administration
Experience in a law Firm or municipal tax collection a plus
